Tiger Woods Arrested

04/06/2017 Main

Hello everyone, welcome back to my sports and fitness blog. First off, I would like to thank you all for clicking on us in your favourites, on in the search query or wherever else you got our link from. Now onto sports. Police officers in the town of Jupiter, Florida just recently released dashcam footage of Tiger Woods being arrested for driving under the influence last week. The officers noticed a Mercedes that had been pulled to the side in an awkward fashion with the engine still running, and the brake and right signal lights on. Both of the driver side tires were flat at this point and there was what appeared to be fresh damage on the same side Read more

How To Find The Perfect Tennis Racket

11/05/2017 Main

Hello Everyone! Welcome back to my sports and fitness blog. A while ago I wrote about Badminton, why I enjoy it and why it is so much fun! Today I will write about his bigger brother: Tennis. It is great outdoor sport, especially for the summer. It requires proper technique, tactics and condition, the latter the most. Therefore it is an excellent workout for your hole body, which, in the long run, is beneficial to an overall, good health. Read more

Lacrosse-A warriors game

Hey there you guys and you gals, hope we are all doing good today! I just got off the phone with my brother who lives in Canada, and my nephew was recently selected for the provincial U-16 lacrosse team! As a Canadian, this is very exciting to me. Something that a lot of people don’t know is that lacrosse is the national summer sport in Canada, and it has deep rooted history in the makings of Canada. Lacrosse was traditionally played by the Iroquois native American people and teams would consists of between 100 and 1,000 men on gigantic fields that would stretch anywhere from 500 metres to 3000 metres. The games were very ceremonial, and were closer to symbolic warfare than the sport played by Ivy league schools today. Read more

Gym bag essentials

10/02/2017 Main

Hi everyone. It’s been a while since posted on my sports and fitness blog.  Let’s just say that maybe 2017 has run away from me a tad.  The one thing I’ve managed to keep on top of in 2017 so far has been my fitness.  One of the ways I’ve managed to keep on top of my fitness is by making sure that my gym bag is always packed and ready and full of everything I could need to get a quick workout in.  Essentially I’ve made my gym bag into my Mary Poppins bag of tricks, full of every essential a fitness fiend should have.  Even if you’ve been heading into the gym daily for years there’s no way you couldn’t benefit from a bag stuffed full of items to lead you to a more productive and purposeful workout. Training for an Ironman

Hello everyone, welcome back to Tim’s sporting and fitness blog. My name is Alan, and Tim asked me to write a piece for him today as we used to be on the same football team. Recently, I began training for an Ironman competition. To get myself started though, I made sure to get lots of sports and fitness equiptment from a site called http://www.easyprices.com/ that has lots of new and used sporting gear. I used them to source some new running shoes, swimming goggles, and a hydration belt with bottles. Thanks to this website, I am now fully prepared in terms of equipment so the next step is to get physically ready. For that, I have started a big six month long journey. Read more

Red Wings Memorial Workout

Hey there sports fans! Welcome to another post on what is in my extremely biased opinion the best sporting blog on the internet. I am going to talk to you guys today about personal workouts, and a great one I found. Thanks to Houston Texans star Defensive end I found this great workout you can do at home, with minimal equipment. And if you don’t have the equipment, there are lots of other exercises to substitute instead. This was posted as a Red Wings Memorial Workout to JJ’s facebook and twitter page a couple years ago, back in 2014. This workout was in honor of the member of Operation Red Wing that took place on June 27th of 2005 with US troops engaging Taliban forces in Afghanistan. This workout was posted in memoriam of the men and women who were killed that day. This workout is 6 exercises in total, with 28 reps of each exercise and 5 sets total. Read more

NFL MVP

The Race for NFL MVP

HEY YOU GUYS! Welcome back to my favourite place on the internet not ending in Tube; my sports blog. As you guys know I love the NFL. I love reading about it, I love watching it (especially now that I have bought a used flat screen TV over at http://www.canada.for-sale.com/flat-screen-tv) I love playing video games about it and I especially love writing about it. With the halfway point of the season now upon us, I thought it would be a good time to look at who the frontrunners are at this point and who can make a case for themselves before the season ends. I am going to assume the Tony Romo returns this week marking the end of Dak Prescotts run at MVP and Rookie of the Year, which will leave the later award for Dak’s teammate Ezekial Elliot. For those reasons I will not be considering Dak or Ezekial for the MVP as I think Dak will not play much for the rest of the season and if Ezekial wins Rookie of the Year they will not also award him MVP. Sports Injuries

Welcome back folks.  For today’s sports installment I wanted to share with you a cycling story, which ended up in complete disaster, resulting in a serious back injury (which was never really diagnosed or treated correctly) that I still struggle with to this day.  It also involves being temporarily paralysed in a tiny Laotian village with no real access to doctors or medicine, and come to think of it, very little access (via the internet) to the outside world.  I also wanted to share with you the miracle that is the electronic TENS machine.  Read more

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Welcome back everybody. Do you guys watch the Mixed Martial Arts on TV? Those guys are ridiculously fit! I gather that one of the core martial arts disciplines that they train in is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has grown in popularity in recent years, not least because of the prominence of MMA, but also due to the obvious health and fitness benefits of the training involved. It requires strength, agility and endurance when competing against an opponent and when followed as a regular program this is conducive to weight loss, all round fitness and general wellbeing. In this blog post I am going to take an indepth look at the world of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Read more

Badminton Fun

Badminton Fun

Hey everybody. How have you all been? Welcome back to the blog once again. Just a quick post today. I want to talk about how much I enjoy badminton. It is such an accessible sport and so much fun to play. I can either play at my local leisure centre or knock up a net in my back garden at the weekend. It’s a relatively fast sport so is excellent for cardiovascular fitness and all round balance. It’s also suitable for people of all ages to play. You can slow it down to your own level of ability. The equipment is relatively cheap when compared to other sports and even if you play it at your local sports centre it is only a few pound per session. (Just make sure you book in advance. People can get quite territorial about the court if you steal their slot). Rackets are relatively cheap and can be bought in sets of two and shuttlecocks cost next to nothing. The net and stand are the most expensive investment but still not that much in the great scheme of things. If you want to give badminton a try you should get in touch with your local club or sports centre and book a session. You may even be able to get an instructor to show you how it is played. If not, you can easily find the rules and plenty of tutorial online, so don’t worry. Equipment is included when you book a court so don’t go out and spend any money until you have at least tried it out first. Read more

Watching Sports

10/05/2016 Main

I thought I would keep this blog post a little lighter! So I just wondered where you tend to watch sports the most. Do you try and watch sports at the actual venue or do you prefer to watch them at home on the TV, on your laptop or at your local pub or sports bar? There is nothing better in my opinion than having a few friends round, getting some beer and snacks in and watching some sports in the comfort of your own home. That being said sometimes I just want some down time and will often stream sports by myself on my laptop. There is also no denying the atmosphere of watching sports live at the venue but this can become a costly occurrence. In regards to going to a bar to watch sports I am not particularly a fan! I don’t know, I just feel that if you go out to a bar then it should be a time for socialising which is often pretty difficult in these types of places. Often they will have several TVs showing different sports so it becomes hard to actually concentrate on just one of these and you often won’t be able to hear anything which makes it easier for people to lose interest. My partner always has a thing or two to say about this as well, she has no problem with me watching sports with friends or together at home but when we go out she finds pubs and bars playing sports very unsociable. Unless you are super interested in what’s being played, these types of places really don’t cater for you! I think she would like these places to have separate areas so that you can have the choice of whether you want to get involved in the sports or not, rather than it taking over the whole bar! I’m not so sure if that would work though… I would be interested to know what you guys think on this one!  Read more

Rock on!

12/04/2016 Main

Hi folks, welcome back to the blog. So I am always talking about sports of one kind or another but today I have something even more exciting to tell you about. Well I find it exciting at least so hopefully you will to! I have always loved riding my motorcycle and recently decided that I wanted to go traveling. The genius in me, or perhaps the crazy, decided it would be great to combine the two. So yes, I am going to go traveling on my motorbike! Just me, my motto and a rucksack. I have been working in the same job for a while now and would like a change. The idea of just driving off into the sunset on my motorbike is pretty damn exciting, particularly in knowing that I have no set plans and no set time scale. It’s so exhilarating to have that kind of freedom. Some people find the idea fritherless, immature and insensible but I think most of those people are just scared and probably realise they should have done it a long time ago! I know if I don’t do it I will definitely regret it later in life. I have plenty of time to settle down with a family and career but this is something I want and need to do for myself. I think in my last post I adhered to the fact that so many of the people in my home town are stuck in there ways and most likely have never even left the state, let alone the country. Read more

Donald Trump is his name and stupidity is his game!

07/04/2016 Main

Howdy folks! Ok I don’t really speak like that, even though most people would probably presume I do because I’m from Texas! A lot of people do speak like that though don’t get me wrong. Another thing that I don’t have in common with a lot of people living here in Texas is actually going to be the topic for discussion in today’s blog entry. It may be a little off topic but it’s something that is affecting me personally and just about every other person here in America. So, if you haven’t guessed it……Donald Trump is his name and stupidity is his game! Read more

Golf Tennis and Soccer

So it’s good to see Rory McIlroy back to winning golf tournaments. He has been out since July with an injury to his knee that happened whilst he was playing soccer with friends. He recently won the Race to Dubai for the third time in four years and this indicates that 2016 will be a very competitive year at the top of the golf rankings, with Jordan Speith and Jason Day both having very good years while Rory has been out. He has said that he will be taking sport more seriously from now on and focusing 100% on his golf, which will probably mean no more soccer games with his buddies. Really looking forward to 2016! IAAF and Boxing

So after all the recent hoo-har with the Ruski’s and them subsequently being banned from all international athletics competitions we all thought that Seb Coe (the new president of the IAAF) was going to come in and clean everything up. Now even he has been caught up in a bit a scandal, that relates to the awarding of the World Championships in Eugene in 2021. He was vice-president at the time but he is thought to have leaned on the then president to award it to Eugene, without a voting process, even though Gothenburg, in Sweden, were interested. They are calling for an inquest into the matter. I thought Seb was squeaky clean. If he is dirty, then we have no hope! Read more
